In 1942, he built his own house in Ordrupsgaard, north of Copenhagen, where he lived surrounded by furniture and everyday items that he had designed himself.\u003cbr\u003e In the 1950s, he expanded his activities to the United States, where he gained international fame through projects such as the interior and furniture design for the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations Headquarters.
