The technique, which seems to draw on the tradition of Song Dynasty red-painting, is unique to Kakiemon and is called Nigoshi-te. By applying a fresh, rich vermilion red color to a white base, the porcelain is elevated to a state of warm, sophisticated sourness.
You can enjoy the unique atmosphere of Akae, which has been carefully crafted down to the tip of each leaf, recreating the beautiful world of Kakiemon.
