What did he leave for the future?

The BO46 was designed by Finn Juhl and released in 1946.

This sofa is a reproduction made by One Collection. Generally, original sofas are more rare and therefore more expensive.

Both have their merits, but the story behind the beginnings of One Collection and Finn Juhl is one that adds value beyond rarity.

We will introduce the appeal of BO46 along with the history of One Collection, the company that is now able to produce reproductions.

New designs born from different industries

Finn Juhl studied architecture rather than furniture design without any qualifications, and stuck to his own unique approach, inspired by art and culture.

It's a departure from the angular furniture he designed in the 1930s.

Modern artists of the time,

Henry Moore and Jean Arp

Inspired by the work,

It evolved into furniture with a compact size and smooth, beautiful curves.

The challenge of mass-producing teak furniture

Finn Juhl attracted a lot of attention in the 1940s and 1950s, but he was not in the spotlight for a while until his popularity resurfaced around 2000.

What started the popularity

With One Collection, the company that produces the reproductions

That's how Finn Juhl met his wife.

Thanks to the reissue, Finn Juhl is still known to the world as one of the legends.

You're probably wondering why reprints were such an important factor in making the originals so highly sought after, right?

Fascinated by the unconventional

One Collection started out in a small laundry basement in 1990. They manufactured furniture using their own unconventional methods, and around 1999, they started to become known.

His wife had asked One Collection to create a Finn Juhl sofa for a commemorative exhibition .

Although the schedule and budget were limited, the philosophy advocated by Finn Juhl coincided with the aspirations of One Collection, so they decided to take on the job.

With the cooperation of many craftsmen, Sofa 57 and Pelican Chair were reproduced.

Do you enjoy the challenge?

Finn Juhl's furniture, released by One Collection, had not been much talked about for many years and had been forgotten by many collectors and critics.

Although its long-awaited return drew a mixed response, it became a hot topic and attracted attention, with requests for exhibitions coming in from overseas, including the United States.

Furthermore, his wife made an offer to take over the manufacturing rights for all of his furniture.

"I've had such a great time with you guys, I want you to take over."

It was by no means an easy challenge, but the offer came from my wife, who was closest to Finn Juhl and who shared the same passion and described the days we spent struggling to recreate Finn Juhl's furniture as "fun times."

It wasn't an easy decision, but the offer was accepted and so the reprint exists today.

What he left for the future

The reason why Finn Juhl's furniture remains so famous and popular today is thanks to his wife and One Collection, who believed in him and worked passionately to revive his designs even after his passing.

Without the existence of the reprint, I might never have seen the value of the original.

What Finn Juhl left for the future is,

He strived to carry on his ideas through furniture.

It's impossible to talk about it without the enthusiasm of those around you.

I hope that my passion for this reprint is conveyed.
