The chair that changed the fate of one president

We introduce "The Chair," a chair that was originally created by a single genius, but changed the life of a president and rose to the top.

A chair by that genius Scandinavian designer

Danish furniture designer

Hans J. Wegner .

A hugely popular designer not only in Denmark but also in Japan, Wegner designed hundreds of pieces of furniture during his lifetime.

Among the many designs, "The Chair" is perhaps the most representative.

The origin of the name "that chair"

The Chair first became known to the world when John F. Kennedy sat in it during a television debate during the 1960 US presidential election .

Kennedy, who suffered from back pain, is said to have searched for a chair that was comfortable to sit in and that made him look dignified and beautiful when sitting in it , and eventually came across The Chair.

The power of the chosen chair

The Chair's design has the presence and beauty of a chair, but is not overly assertive . "When it is on its own, it is a beautiful chair, but as soon as someone sits on it, the chair disappears (the person sitting on it becomes the main focus, making them look beautiful)."
This is the kind of chair it is.

It is said that the young Kennedy was able to overcome an unfavorable situation by showing such confidence in the debates that people were captivated by his performance, and he was able to successfully take the presidency.

At that time I was sitting

The Chair.
