Hand-drawn. Seigaiha is a pattern of waves and scales, and is one of the auspicious patterns that embodies "the wish for a peaceful life in the infinitely spreading calm waves."
Somenishiki is a type of porcelain that is painted directly onto bisque clay and then glazed and fired (sometsuke), and is then painted on top of that. Because the painting is done on top of the glaze, it is also called overglaze painting. Other names for Nishiki include akae and iroe. It is a very luxurious piece that is made vivid with vibrant colors by going through the kiln at least 4-5 times during the production process.
