Kurt Ostervig (Denmark, 1912-1986) About Kurt Ostervig
Kurt Ustvig began his career as a naval architect in Odense, Denmark's third largest city. In 1947 he went independent and produced many works in collaboration with Danish furniture brands. He mainly used oak as a material, but some models were also made of rosewood and teak.
In addition to being a furniture maker, Ustvig was an artist known for his naturalistic depictions, and is also known for designing private homes, ships, nursing homes, hotels, cinemas, etc. Ustvig's furniture is still being produced today, but the pieces made around the 1960s are extremely valuable and continue to be highly regarded around the world.
