Known as a friend of the common people, Mogensen aimed to make effective use of the space available in small homes and create high-quality furniture that ordinary households could purchase at affordable prices.
Mogensen has a love for Spain and has often found inspiration there during several family trips there.
One particular chair was inspired by the wide arms of wooden chairs made from a single piece of leather that were used by the Spanish aristocracy, and was designed to have a dual function in addition to its original functions as a chair and arms, and to serve as a place to place newspapers or coffee.
Mogensen has redesigned the traditional Spanish chair style into a simpler version based on his own interpretation.
The single piece of leather design, which was also intended to help saddlers who had lost their jobs due to the spread of automobiles at the time, is very much in keeping with the down-to-earth Mogensen style. The single piece of leather stretches over time, and the belt on the underside of the seat can be tightened by the user. This is a powerful, simple, beautiful, and personal chair.
