Hand-painted. Porcelain painted with gold is called Kinrande. It got its name because the gorgeous color scheme resembles brocade fabric. The Kinrande style, which appeared during the Genroku period of the economically prosperous Edo period, is a technique in which patterns are created with gold paint on a base of colored white porcelain, and many pieces feature gorgeous patterns that lavishly use red and gold colors.
It is considered one of the most difficult styles in the world of pottery, as it requires a great deal of time and effort, as each color is fired repeatedly and multiple colors, including gold, are used.
