We will be introducing the background to the creation of Tokyo Apartment Store and what kind of brand it is in three parts, the first part, the second part, and the third part.

The second part, which follows the first part , is about an episode involving interior goods that creative director Ukai came across.

They also sell vintage furniture and interior goods with Scandinavian designs. Creative director Ukai happily talks about the items he has purchased from overseas.

About the "stories" hidden in things.

For example, these plates and mugs are from the "Neptune's Voyages" series by Richard Ginori 1735 (hereafter "Ginori").

Ginori is a tableware and ceramics manufacturer founded in Florence, Italy in 1735.

The company went bankrupt in 2013, but was acquired by Gucci the same year and managed to keep the brand afloat by making production possible at its factory in Sesto Fiorentino, on the outskirts of Florence.

In 2014, Alessandro Michele (currently Gucci's creative director, hereafter referred to as ``Michele'') was appointed creative director, and the brand's popularity was rekindled.

Then, in 2019, ``Il Viaggio di Nettuno (Neptune's Journey)'' was released by the up-and-coming young designer Luke Edward Hall (hereafter ``Luke''), and the popularity of the Ginori brand soared.
This will be the first time we have stocked such items in our own store, and the distinctive designs are very interesting."

"I like it, so it's okay."

Luke is a generous, positive next-generation artist who respects Michele, the former director of Ginori, and the painter Matisse, and directly reflects their influence in his work, as if to say, "If I like them, then why not?"

If you think about it this way, you might then become interested in paintings by Michele or Matisse.

This is the unique style of Tokyo Apartment Store, which is to fully affirm one's own preferences without trying to be too good at it, rather than following a formulaic, typical design style.

So, what is the appeal of the Neptune's Journey series?

The rest will be in the second part .
